ProLawn and Tree Appeal is a new business in western Kansas, serving the Ellis, Rooks and Ness County areas. They were referred to us by another cb{d} client, Bella Luna Boutique. ProLawn wanted their brand to look as professional as their workmanship and we were tasked with creating everything from scratch, which is often the simplest way to do it.
Cassandra Bryan Design ( cb{d} ) is more than just a logo design company or web design company or print design company. It’s now a multi-service branding agency that focuses less on just “taking you to the next level” and more on “taking you way beyond it”. The guys at ProLawn now have a logo, brand, business card, postcard and website design that all work together to accomplish the same goal, while looking like each of the projects belong to the same company. Frankly, ProLawn has been so easy to deal with because, (beyond just being nice and encouraging clients), the guys at ProLawn decided to put their trust in us to do great branding, from top to bottom. This allowed Cassandra Bryan Design a unique opportunity: to create what we now feel may be the best lawn care company brand and website design on the market… and believe me when I say that I looked at A LOT of them. ( Seriously. A LOT of them. ) Not because there aren’t some great brands out there, either. Simply put, we had an advantage over most tree spraying or lawn care companies, right from the get-go. Here’s why…
What most people never think about, when they think about hiring a professional landscaper or lawn and tree service, is that those people are artists and your yard or property is their canvas. They are creatives just like us and can work miracles for their customers. Unfortunately, this means that they typically don’t hire a professional branding agency from the start, instead choosing to try to do everything on their own. Since they’re surrounded by competition, this inevitably runs them into a wall of more prepared, more experienced or more advertised companies. Something nearly EVERY small business has encountered. ProLawn’s team just decided to hire a branding agency for this side of things while they focus on what should matter even more than your logo: customer service. After all, the best logo in the world won’t matter if you don’t seek out and take care of the people who contact you after they saw a postcard.
I know it may sound arrogant but I don’t care: this has been, in my opinion, one of the best looking branding packages I’ve ever worked on. Ever. It was also one of the most personally rewarding… because, a very long time ago, a good friend of mine knew I was out of work and nearly homeless so he got me a job working for his tree service crew until I could find something in my desired field. He had been an out-of-work computer programmer who someone else got into the business and found himself paying it forward, so to speak.
I learned some very valuable lessons while I was there. One of them being that life is more enjoyable and fulfilling when you can walk into a situation and leave it better than you found it. I can honestly say it was one lesson I will NEVER forget. (Another was to run the heck out of the way when someone yelled the word “Headache”, as that meant they were dropping a limb or log in your general vicinity.) I met guys who genuinely loved their jobs because they couldn’t spend another day in a cramped cubicle or just wanted to something creative. When I left, he encouraged me to continue doing something creative and be happy in my work. Hopefully, this new branding for ProLawn allows some other guys like him to put food on their tables while making their clients, colleagues and peers respect them as a professional crew that does professional work. In any case, the men and women at cb{d} wish them a safe and prosperous season. Headache, fellas. Headache.
